where can we find a mentor who has a wealth of business experience?

(Posted by: Incipient Minds)

we are two young females who are trying to set up a youth led organisation targeting young people netween the ages of 16-21. we are trying to do a mentor-mentee programme for our youth with people from different business sectors for a 6-8 week duration. it would entail individuals volunteering to take on our young people to teach them about the business and to equip our youth with employability skills. However we need advice on how to make this vision a sound reality, thank you.

Congratulations on your inspiring vision - I wish you every success in developing such a worthwhile project. From personal experience I can highly recommend that you check out http://jcgol.successuniversity.com where you can get unlimited access to what I think must be the best distance learning resource for personal development and success education available anywhere - for a cost of about £1 per day. The curriculum is huge and can be delivered in audio, video or text whenever you or your students want it. Good luck!

This may not be much help- but, my husband got involved in something similar to this through his workplace. He works in a major corp. in the city. He really enjoyed it and felt at the end of it he had really made a difference to someones life and future. I would suggest approaching some of the big financial institutions and major consultancy firms, as more often than not you’ll find some guys/girls that want a change from their 7-7 days and would be happy to help/volunteer. It would be a place to start if this is scheme you want to roll out in London or other major cities.
