If you were starting a charity, social enterprise or CIC - what knowledge would be useful to you
(Posted by: Henry Warren)
Part of our remit is around strengthening the not-for-profit sector. We’re not convinced that all the information that one my need when starting a charity/CIC/social enterprise is readily available and easily digestible. It’s there, by and large, for established charities, but not for those trying to get on the first rung of the ladder. We’d like to change that.
We want to know what advice would be most useful to people?
For example would it be useful for people to have advice on:
- How to constitute an organisation - the difference between charities, CIC, Ltd by shares and Ltd by guarantee etc.
- Writing fundraising proposals
- Understanding trusts
- Managing money - the difference between Cashflow and Profit and Loss etc.
- How on earth does the government and civil service work - how can you get money from them and work with them
- How to recruit a good trustee board
We have about 60 of these so far, but we’d be really interested to know what people need.
What do you really want to know?
