New to Importing - any tips or pitfalls to avoid?

(Posted by: Alice Bowe)

We are expanding our business and starting to import products from EU and beyond. Looking for a mentor, or just some simple advice so that we avoid obvious mistakes etc. Thanks

    Hi Alice,

We are running 3 events around the country over the next couple of weeks, all focusing on entrepreneurs going global, how to establish partnerships, supply chains, importing and exporting, etc.

We have entrepreneurs sharing their experiences, experts from UKTI and Pathfinder magazine joining us.

You can find out on: www.stridingout.co.uk/networking-events.php

    Hope to see you there

    Maria

    Hi Alice,

I know it sounds obvious but the HM customs and Excise website has some guides and information sheets on import and export to download, see following link: http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageImport_Home

Business link also have a section on import as well: http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/layer?r.l1=1079717544&r.l3=1079819159&topicId=1079717544&r.t=RESOURCES&r.i=1080063285&r.l2=1079840669&furlname=internationaltrade&furlparam=internationaltrade&ref=&domain=www.businesslink.gov.uk

Hope this helps, best of luck.

    Julie.
