    D&AD is an educational charity that represents the global creative community and supports creative practitioners. D&AD North was launched in March 2006. Through the Northern network – D&AD’s first outside of London – D&AD aims to provide professionals and students involved in design, advertising and creative communications with direct access to a global network of creative excellence. Ultimately, D&AD works to ensure that the creative community in the North of England receives the support, recognition and profile it deserves. The Northern programme reflects and appeals to the broad spectrum of creative disciplines represented by D&AD, and is designed to involve creative practitioners as well as students who aspire to work in the creative sector. A number of significant events have been held, including D&AD President’s Lectures, Professional Development ‘Workout’ sessions, Workshop courses and Awards screenings. Perhaps the highlight of the Northern programme is the annual exhibition at Urbis in Manchester – a major exhibition of the best advertising and design in the world featuring nominated and awarded work from the D&AD Global Awards.

    Manchester Craft and Design Centre is a unique organisation comprising of 18 independent retail/studio spaces, a rolling programme of exhibitions and events from leading national and international makers of original contemporary craft and design and Cafe Aromat Located in Manchester city centre’s Northern Quarter, Manchester Craft and Design Centre is at the hub of a growing innovative and artistic community. It is one of the few places in the UK open to the public where contemporary craft is individually produced and sold on the premises. Formerly the Smithfield Victorian fish market and crowned with a huge glass roof, the Centre now houses two floors of studios ranging from jewellery, ceramics and textiles to furniture and clothing design.
