  • Fashion-Able - Grangetown Library

    Fashion-Able is a group of young people (12-21) who came together from Grangetown, South Bank and Eston areas of Redcar & Cleveland. We got together for a lively and fun activity project that had never been tried before through a library. The project is based around fashion and designing our own clothing. Our group is based at Grangetown Library. Birchington Avenue. Grangetown Tel 01642 454417. Firstly we set up a constitution with aims and objectives policies, which allowed us to apply for funding. It took us six months of hard work to achieve this. We devised a powerpoint presentation which we showed to various agencies and corporate bodies. We acquired funding from Redcar & Cleveland Education Dept who gave us a start up grant of £2500, after a few more months we submitted an application to Tees Valley Community Chest and acquired further funding. In total Fashion-Able have gained £10.000 of funding. Our official work night is Wednesday from 4.30 to 7.30pm. However many of us meet on other days in the library. The website is used to make links and develop new work and projects with young people. Members can upload their details & post info about their work, projects and activities with young people in Manchester.

    Peer Development Network designed to help develop or learn new skills in specific area/genres of practice, including Early Years Music, Folk, Music Tech, Percussion and Drumming, Singing and Steel Pan. Open to all levels of experience and understanding of music. We particularly welcome non-musicians who would like to extend music activities into their field of work, i.e. Early Years Practitioners, Youth Workers and so on.
