“Sports and Business” - London Olympics 2012 - what’s in it for your business? Bob Blizzard MP; I am writing to invite you to my next Business Liaison Forum meeting, which will focus on business and sport. I am keen to ensure that businesses in Waveney are aware of opportunities available as a result of the successful London 2012 Olympic bid, and to be in the best position to take advantage of them. We will also have the opportunity to find out more about the ambitions and proposed development of two of our local sports clubs. My special guest speakers will be Morag Stuart, Olympic Delivery Authority – London 2012 Morag is Head of Procurement at the Olympic Delivery Authority, responsible for the procurement of the venues, transport and infrastructure for the games and legacy. London 2012 expects to have around 7,000 direct contracts which, together with its suppliers, will form supply chains of around 75,000 opportunities. It’s fantastic to see that of some 500 contracts (worth over £1 billion) already awarded, 98 per cent have gone to British companies, with over half won by mostly small- and medium- sized companies based outside of London.
