Using the Arts with Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Wednesday, 11 June 2008

This one day course is a practical exploration of the role and use of arts with young refugees and asylum seekers. The course begins with an exploration of the barriers to social and educational inclusion experienced by young people when they begin a new life in Britain and explores the role of the arts in contributing to inclusion.

During the training day participants will sample a number of practical approaches, which are accessible to young people who are not fluent in spoken English. They will also explore different ways of developing and adapting these approaches to youth arts work with young refugees and asylum seekers. Most approaches begin with drama or movement though there will be exploration of other art forms such as video and visual arts.

All participants will receive a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the course and a wealth of practical resources. Prices which include lunch and refreshments, range from £150 to £110, with bursaries available. Please also remember that ENYAN members can receive a 5% discount on all Artsplan publications and training!
