Dominique runs Liverpool JMU’s Start-Up Network for student and graduate entrepreneurs and anyone else with an interest in business start-up. Liverpool JMU has helped many of its students to develop their business ideas and can extend this support to graduates. The Network hosts regular events and is also on Facebook.

  • Why is getting connected important to make things happen?

    In a nutshell, it’s only by talking, making connections and being connected, that ideas can move forward. A connection made can be of use to someone else even if it’s not directly useful for you.

  • What are your top tips for hosting a great networking event?

    Make sure it’s an interesting mix of people who can all bring something to the event. Plan, plan, and plan some more (!) and accept all offers of help leading up to and on the day of the event - if you’re hosting an event, you won’t have time to do everything yourself.

  • What are your best networking links / resources?

    Make Your Mark of course! Also, get signed up with industry-specific networking groups like Kin2Kin for the creative industries sector.

  • What makes your network different or special?

    We are focused on our students and our graduates - we’re a stepping stone between studies and the professional world outside. We can link entrepreneurs with the knowledge base at LJMU and we can make introductions to our partners that student entrepreneurs might not be able to make themselves.
