Alasdair is currently sabbatical president of Oxford Entrepreneurs, the society for Oxford University student entrepreneurs and one of the largest networks for student entrepreneurs in the UK. In the past I’ve organised The Queen’s College Ball, been involved in a web start-up and designed rockets. I am currently working with Rajeeb Dey to launch Enternship.com nationwide and get young people experience of working on start-ups.

Q&A
  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

Our networks website allows external members to apply by filling in a short form. This has resulted in some really cool members such as Simon Biltcliffe the founder of Webmart who is now a keen supporter of OE.

  • Why is getting connected important to make things happen?

Nothing happens when concepts stay in your head. Meeting people, discussing ideas and sharing skills makes it happen.

  • What are your top tips for hosting a great networking event?

Make it exciting! Cool venues, frees stuff, exclusive invites and an amazing guestlist.

  • What are your best networking links / resources?

Well I would be sacked if I didn’t say www.oxfordentrepreneurs.co.uk

Read James Dysons autobiography and watch this clip http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5700431505846055184

  • What makes your network different or special?

Because people are going out and forming companies! There have been some amazing success stories. Also I am continually amazed by the enthusiasm, integrity and quality of our members. [HTML_REMOVED]

“They are an inspirational crowd - young and full of ideas and energy. If they and their like can sustain a decent level of enthusiasm, then we will still have a worthwhile enterprise economy in a few decades’ time.” - Luke Johnson, Chairman, Channel 4, Sunday Telegraph, 6th March 2005
