The Prince's Trust Mentor Network

I am the Business Programme Manager for The Prince’s Trust in Birmingham and Solihull. This means I am responsible for starting 140 new businesses across Birmingham and Solihull for young people aged 18-30. We give advice, guidance and funding to help start those businesses. As well as this I have a network of over 150 mentors to help our businesses across a wide range of solicitors, accountants, business men and women and many other trades and skills. I also have around 400 active businesses to choose from if you need anything and I can connect you quickly to a whole range of different people and businesses to help with any needs you or your business may have. -

  • What makes your network different or special?

    My network is different and special because of the range of services and advice we can provide from our young businesses and mentors we provide to our clients. I can usually find you the answer to any question you may have, or link you to any type of business you may need very quickly.

  • Why is getting connected important to make things happen?

    Being connected and building bridges is important to ensure the survival of Enterprise across our region. Linking businesses together ensures best practices are used and shared to the benefit of everyone.

  • What are your top tips for hosting a great networking event?

    Clear organisation and a plan of what is to happen, keep it timed if you are speed networking! invite the right kind of people and have speakers who will infuse excitement into the attendees. Always try and get like minded businesses at the same events as they are much more likely to network than anyone else!!

  • What are your best networking links / resources?

    Because I work for a charity I have to do everything for as little as possible, so the people around me in my team are the best resources and networking links I have. It doesn’t have to cost the earth to connect people, using your brain and dedication to planning is much more effective than throwing money at something.

  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

    It would be unfair to pick out one connection as all connections I make always provide what they can, some obviously more than others. We at The Prince’s Trust have great links with Blue Chip Corporate Companies who are more than happy to network wherever possible and will always help. An organisation such as Make Your Mark is always goignt o be important in this field.
