Q&A
  • What makes your network different or special?

Up is a new concept in the employment sector; it is a platform to advise and network high-flyers and high-growth companies. Our aim is to provide individuals with the best advice and most exciting opportunities and to provide companies with the most talented individuals to help develop their businesses. We build sustainable, long-term relationships by truly adding-value to both parties irrespective of short-term fees!

Our specialism is in connecting fast-growing, typically venture-backed companies with individuals who can make a significant impact in dynamic, entrepreneurial environments. In addition, we work with high-growth areas of larger businesses that can offer equally challenging opportunities for our members.

For individual members we offer personal career advice, access to opportunities often not in the public domain, unique market intelligence and the ability to interact with a community of high-flyers both on- and off-line. Becoming a member does not imply that individuals are actively looking for a new job; membership demonstrates that they are a switched-on high-flyer who values proactively managing their career and maximising their chances of being exposed to new opportunities.

For company members, we go beyond solely offering recruitment services; Up acts a growth partner, using our deep understanding of the business to identify synergies and networking opportunities with an elite source of high-flyers, deliver bespoke head-hunting solutions, as well as proactively develop talent pools and raise its employer brand profile.

  • Why is getting connected important to make things happen?

By getting out there and talking to people you gain an invaluable breadth of insights, experience and advice to which you would be otherwise unaware. Successful businesses deliver products/services based on what people actually want - you can only know what people really want by connecting with them!

  • What are your top tips for hosting a great networking event?

Make sure it is relevant for those attending, is fairly under-stated and informal (no hard selling!), is professionally run and is enjoyable.

  • What are your best networking links / resources?

Informal, personal networking - getting referrals from people you know, trust and respect of other people they know, trust and respect. Sources such as Strategy Eye and Library House are really useful for keeping track of the market and getting ideas of who to talk to. Initiatives like Mark Your Mark are also invaluable and inspiring.
