I wouldn’t say that one person has been the ‘best’ connection – but meeting the right people can really make a difference. I hope I’ve given lots of people lots of contacts that have helped them along the way.

We didn’t actually start our network, it evolved organically through an extensive range of contacts, starting with our work in the arts / entertainment sectors and the fact that our magazine brings people to us. We also appreciate the “nothing to lose” idea, give people ten minutes of your time – who know where it will lead?

Make the event something that people want to attend. What’s the point in having an event that nobody wants to be at? Look at ways of tailoring the event to its audience when choosing venue, location etc

For me personally, I would say mobile phone. Seriously though, I would say that in a music sense things like myspace have revolutionised networking. In business terms there are lots of meetings and events that can be very helpful, and the internet is obviously a vital tool. And just bumping into people - chance encounters could play a helping hand.

The network that we have is special as it spans such a range of people – from the business community to artists, writers, designers and musicians and even students. Essentially it’s a creative network.
