Q&A
  • Why do you think networking is important?

Networking is the social lubricant that allows us to hook up with cool people. Some people call it “socialising” We used to call it “partying” when i lived in California as in “hey those people look cool..let’s hang out and party with them” You’ll be amazed what you learn once you start having fun with people

  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

Almost all the important or meaningful connections have come out of the blue when I was doing something I was passionate about. It’s as if one’s intensity creates an “invisible magnetism”

  • What are your top tips for effective networking?

If you are doing something you love, your passion will often lead you to meet the people you really need or want to meet. People will feel your passion and “connect” you to anyone else they know who shares your joy or aliveness.

I like networking events where an activity happens like a dance lesson or a drum class. Something that breaks the ice and lets you have fun and “drop the mask” with people. Personally, I find parties to be the best place to meet people because if i’m having a good time I will go and talk to anyone. Stick me in a business networking event and I’ll be all shy and self-deprecating

  • What tools or resources do you use to keep in touch with people?

Phone, email and get-togethers… there’s nothing like genuine human contact.
