Q&A
  • Why is getting connected important to make things happen?

Whether you’re a fledgling business, or an established international company, the power of networking should never be discounted, as even in this new electronic age, a large majority of business is done through personal connections.

  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

There have been many in the development of the North East BIC, including the connection with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which led to a skills transfer and the establishment of our Big Ideas centre in 2003. Consequently, this has allowed us to forge new connections with organizations in the educational sector such as NESTA.

  • What are your top tips for making great connections?

I think that it is important to listen to and make an effort to talk to everyone, as you never know where the next business deal will come from.

  • What tools or resources do you use to keep in touch with people?

We use a range of tools to keep in touch with customers, clients and associates - from follow-up phone calls to intricate public relations activity. However, I think it’s also important not to underestimate the value of good old face-to-face communication.
