I am chief executive of the North East BIC, a leading organization in innovation and entrepreneurship for the region. Outside work I enjoy family life, football and music.
Whether you’re a fledgling business, or an established international company, the power of networking should never be discounted, as even in this new electronic age, a large majority of business is done through personal connections.
There have been many in the development of the North East BIC, including the connection with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which led to a skills transfer and the establishment of our Big Ideas centre in 2003. Consequently, this has allowed us to forge new connections with organizations in the educational sector such as NESTA.
I think that it is important to listen to and make an effort to talk to everyone, as you never know where the next business deal will come from.
