Q&A
  • What makes your network different or special?

Lowestoft Youth Action is an independent youth group in which young people themselves make the decisions. Using our fortnightly page in the local newspaper, LYA enables youth to have a voice in the community. This allows young people to express themselves individually without pressures from their elders. We started up the network as we felt there was a lack of provision for youth in the town - especially in youth having an independent voice, able to express their own opinions and feelings without being guided by others.

  • What are your best networking links / resources?

Our best networking links and resources are (a) our links to the young people in the town, which provide us with an insight into the issues young people feel strongly about and also what they would like to see improved in the town, and (b) our partnership again with the Lowestoft Journal as they provide us with our main resource in expressing young peoples opinions and feelings to the local community.

  • What are your top tips for hosting a great networking event?

Provide a welcoming atmosphere and to make the event enjoyable for all who attend.
