Q&A
  • Why is getting connected important to make things happen?

Success in business is all about contacts. You never know where the next lead is going to come from, so it’s vital that you meet as many people as possible to keep widening your network. It’s a numbers game - the more people you know the more probability that you’ll be recommended to further contacts.

It’s also a bit like doing your own PR - the more trusted connections you have, the more endorsees you have promoting your work. Always say yes to an intro to a new contact - you never know what doors it might open.

  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

Best connection I’ve made so far was Shaa Wasmund. I got in touch with her about a year ago for some support on a project I was working on. We got on like a house on fire and now I’m working with her three days a week. She’s also working with several of my contacts that I put her in touch with.

  • What are your top tips for making great connections?

Don’t force it - you’ll know whether someone is your kind of person quite early on. If it’s a struggle then leave it and spend your time cultivating connections that are more on your wavelength.

  • What tools or resources do you use to keep in touch with people?

I use Linkedin.com and think it’s a fantastic tool. I’ve just registered with ecademy.com but haven’t actually used it yet. Apart from that it’s the classic little black book.
