Q&A
  • Why is getting connected important to make things happen?

Getting connected, that is, building relationships is the only way things can be done. People and enterprises only move forward as networks.

  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

Twenty years ago, with a lecturer from University of Liverpool who was keen to work with industry. I valued his honesty and practical approach. We went on to create some significant Œfirst¹s for Merseyside, including the Merseyside Strategic Management Development Programme (with Merseyside Enterprise Board), the Merseyside SME Development Centre at Liverpool John Moores School of Engineering. We are now parts of an extended network of friends and experts in small business development. It supports me, I support it. That’s the way networks work.

  • What are your top tips for making great connections?

    Make conversation

  • What tools or resources do you use to keep in touch with people?

Frequent face to face meetings are essential, the internet allows you to converse in between times. I really am a great believer in professional networking platforms as a means of keeping in touch, for injecting new ideas into established conversations, for peer to peer learning.
