Ronny Ellefsen is one of the founders of the hugely popular networking organization, European Young Professionals London (also known as EYP London), where he runs its creative side. He also runs Tape London Limited, a successful web and graphic design company in the capital specialized within web design for the museum & heritage sector.

  • What makes your network different or special?

    European Young Professionals launched in London in January 2007 and is and organization for professional international networking in London. We have members from over 40 countries, of an average age of 31; with 45% women. EYP was launched in Bangkok, three years ago, and we are currently expanding globally, aiming at having one affiliate in every major city in the world in the future. Our events take place every second Wednesday of the month.

  • Why did you start up your network?

    Having worked with chambers of commerce and arranging separate events, he was encouraged to try to reach a greater potential in creating larger events and attracting more people. EYP is an alternative between Junior Chambers, young Chambers and traditional Chamber’s of Commerce. European Young Professionals offers both 2 hours of professional networking, followed by a relaxed socializing party atmosphere in nice venues.

  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

    European Young Professionals is a great platform for us to approach senior sponsors. The best connections so far are that we are in relationships talks with the European Commission and the British Chamber of Commerce. We are also very fortunate to be have got sponsorship from Cobra Beer and Sputnik Vodka.

  • What are your top tips for hosting a great networking event?

    A unique and exciting venue

    Prestigious sponsors to cover costs

    Create “ice-breakers” for the networking

    Aim to get at least half of the attendees to be women

    Ease the registration process, and make sure that attendees are sent a reminder the day before the event

  • What are your best networking links / resources?

    The internet has a great range of social networking, and I think a good virtual presence is vital for any networking organization. All European Chambers of Commerce and Embassies websites. Also LinkedIn and MeetUp are great.
