Q&A
  • Why do you think networking is important?

Things only happen in life when people meet people. Making connections with people is the continuing source of growth for my business.

  • What is the best connection you have made or received?

Becoming a member of the Institute of Directors, then a member of its committee and Chairman of its Young Directors Forum. It’s given me the opportunity to meet a bright, engaged and surprisingly diverse range of people from many different types of organisation.

  • What are your top tips for effective networking?

Get out there and do it! Make an effort to contribute - like so many things, you get out what you put in.

  • What are your best networking links / resources?

It sounds a bit pompous, but my best resource is me. I think that’s true for everyone. Effective networking is about how you engage with other people. External tools have their role, but it’s ultimately about forming good relations.
